We have been doing inventory and it reminded me of paddlefishing when I started counting rods and reels. We are starting to get some calls and things will be a little different this year the way it looks right now. We have had very little snow in the area and if this keeps up we could see a much lower water level in the river. That would be good news for fishermen and hunters. Last year not only made for tough paddlefishng but also destroyed our river bottoms for hunting this fall. There was still mud under the frozen ground even in early winter and it pretty much killed off all vegetation and we won't know what is left until this summer. The deer moved, pheasants moved and even the coon hunting was poor with lots of very small coons this winter from late litters or very little food. The housing situation has not improved but the public camping has been pretty well policed so far and camping should not be a problem in the Williston bottoms or the Confluence area. If you have questions as we get closer to season please post in the forum and I will try to answer there so we can share the comments. Thanks Andy |
