Lake Sakakawea ice fishing  (United States)
We have started to get a few decent reports of fishermen venturing out on the lake in search of walleyes. Right now a tracked 4X4 or a snowmobile are the best ways to get around but some have braved it and caught some walleye and sauger. Their reports indicated that the fish are still deep like they were in the fall on open water. One of the groups I talked with had went across and fished the south side east of Tobacco and caught one walleye about twelve pounds and over thirty inches. Sounds like fall fishing in the river. Lots of interest in the Confluence area but have not had any reports.

Not at the time but maybe in the future. We use to but they got abused so badly that we gave it up.

Re: Lake Sakakawea ice fishing  (United States)
We ventured out yesterday afternoon and fished Lunds and not much action at all! We did however catch one Pike and a couple of light hits, but other than that? NOTHING! The ice was about 12 inches thick and we were in about 8 to 12 feet of water. We are going to head out again this afternoon and try a couple other areas not sure where we are going to end up? but will post tomorrow.

Thanks for the report. I heard it really helps to jig the walleyes. Good luck!
