North Dakota Fishing & Hunting Reports
Some may ask, why would anyone want a silencer (i.e., a sound suppressor).  Well, beyond the "cool" factor, this video may offer a pretty strong defense for that choice.... watch and enjoy!

Great video ChiefDep, yes you can use a suppressor. You do have to apply for a permit which is kind of like getting a concealed carry, it is more money though. ChiefDep can fill you in on the details as he really knows his stuff!

Suppressors are legal to possess in North Dakota. However, you must go through the paperwork and pay a tax fee to the federal government for $200 for each item. Not a lot of hassle to do so, bit of a wait for the paperwork to go through, but not a big deal overall. Forms can be found on the ATF website.

Suppressors are legal to posess and to use for recreation, But I believe that they are not legal to use for hunting. They fall into the same realm as night vision and thermal imaging equipment.

Actually, per Game & Fish enforcement division, there are no regulations against hunting with a legally owned suppressor. Illumination devices are a no-no, but suppressors are good to go as long as you have done all the paperwork to legally own them. That is not the case in other states where the silencer issue has been particularly regulated in game & fish law.
